Getting Started

Getting started on your weight loss journey begins with the decision to love yourself enough to commit to putting your own best interest first.  It is sometimes hard to do.  I know first hand because it is something that I have struggled with my whole life.  Putting myself first is probably one of the hardest and best things I have ever done.  I am so glad I did.  After losing 40 pounds, I feel fantastic.  There is still a long way to go to get to my goal weight.   But I am determined to make it happen.

Taking Control of my Health

I took control of my health and my life on June 13, 2017.  That was 3 months ago yesterday.  After a trip to the dentist that day, I found out my blood pressure was 210/130 which I am told is stroke level.  My sister had been telling me for years she thought I had high blood pressure.  The combination of not liking to go to the doctor and not having health insurance kept me from getting it checked out.  I did not realize how bad I felt until I started feeling good.  I urge you to keep a check on your blood pressure.  High blood pressure is called the silent killer and I am so lucky that I got mine under control before it was too late.

Tools for Success

I have shared the picture above and will continue to post these until I am up to date with my current weight. This was when I had lost the first 5 pounds.  I will also be sharing my fitness pal food diary and my Fitbit walking log.  Both of these tools have been a huge part of my success thus far.  Both apps make it so easy to keep up with your calorie intake and calories burned.  One of the other important things is planning.  You have to commit to planning your food so that you are not so hungry that you get off track.

I hope you all get some inspiration and ideas from this site.  Much love, april

  1. I am so proud of you,and thank you for helping me get back on track. You gave me the encouragement and that little nudge that I needed. Not to mention all the help with the food and recipes. Even though I have just started I’m already down a few pounds :-).

    1. Thank you. I am glad you are already making progress. And thanks for the idea today about changing the high protein cottage cheese pancakes to savory. I can’t wait to try them.

  2. Sis I too have been inspired about getting my weight back under control because of you. I will say again, i am so proud of you!

    1. Thanks, Janice! We miss you guys too. We definitely need to get together soon. My sister and I might plan a trip up that way soon. I will let you know when. april
